Dog Parks – Where The Locals Play

METRO NEW ORLEANS DOG PARKS – WHEN IT’S TIME TO PLAY, WHERE DO THE LOCALS GO?

Agee's Pet Crematorium - Dog ParksNew Orleanians are close knit families, and our pets are family members held in great esteem. When it comes to playtime, there are numerous dog parks around the Eastbank of the Metro New Orleans area. Who knows how to play better than a New Orleanian with their pets?

EASTBANK AREA DOG PARKS:

New Orleans:

  • NOLA City Bark – located in New Orleans City Park at 30 Zachary Taylor Drive; a 4.6-acre landscaped area with separate play areas for large and small dogs; features include paved walkways, shaded pavilions, seating, drinking fountains, and water play areas/doggy pools; there are on-site restrooms and clean up stations for pet mess; permits required.
  • Crescent Park Dog Run – located across from 3800 Chartres Street, in the Bywater; the Dog Run is in Crescent Park, a mile long park along the Mississippi River; dogs must remain on leash in the park with the exception of the Dog Run, which has a dog fountain and a shade tree.
  • Wisner Dog Park – is located at 4876 Laurel Street, in Uptown New Orleans; fenced in area with benches and water fountains (for dogs and their humans).

Metairie:

  • Lafreniere Dog Park – located in Lafreniere Park at 3000 Downs Boulevard, in Metairie; this 5-acre park is divided into 2 sections for large and small dogs; it features water fountains, an obstacle course, and open spaces for dogs to play.
  • Pontiff Dog Park – recently opened in March 2017 and is located in the Wally Pontiff Jr. Playground at 1521 Palm Street in Old Metairie; it is 25,000 square feet of fenced green space, with benches and water fountains.
  • Bonnabel Boat Launch Dog Park – one component of the Bonnabel Boat Launch located on Bonnabel at the Lakefront; it features an agility course, a shade pavilion, drinking fountains, and a clean up station for your pup’s mess.

Always refer to individual Dog Park rules for your pet’s safe play.
